Allow when prompted
When the site asks for microphone access, choose Allow while visiting the site or Allow this time.
If you missed the prompt
Go to Chrome → Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Camera or Microphone → set to Allow.You can also click the lock icon in the address bar and change permissions directly.
Select the right device
Use the dropdown menus in Chrome’s site settings to select your preferred Camera or Microphone device.

Safari on macOS
Enable per-app access
Go to Apple menu → System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → enable Safari.
Manage site permissions
In Safari, go to Safari → Settings → Websites → Camera or Microphone → set to Allow for the Replay site. Refresh the tab.

Quick Tips for Any Browser
Select the right device
Choose your exact microphone and camera device in the browser and app settings. Avoid “Default” if it points to an inactive device.
Check hardware controls
Look for physical mute buttons on your headset and check in-app volume controls.
Close competing apps
Quit Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or any recording apps that may hold exclusive control of your devices.
Refresh and restart
Refresh the page, restart your browser, and restart your device if permissions still aren’t working.
Replay App Tips
Verify via transcription
Start a roleplay → click the settings gear → select Chat. If your words appear in the transcript, your mic is working.
Choose your microphone
During a roleplay → click the settings gear → Microphone selection menu → pick your device.
Advanced Checks
- Windows: Go to Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone/Camera and ensure your browser has access. Under Sound → Input, select the correct device and disable Enhancements and Spatial audio.
- macOS: Go to System Settings → Sound → Input and confirm the correct device is selected. Verify Safari is allowed under Privacy & Security.
- Extensions: Disable privacy or ad-block extensions temporarily, as they can interfere with permissions.
- Hardware acceleration: Enable hardware acceleration in your browser settings for better real-time audio performance.
- Work/school networks: Corporate networks may restrict device permissions. Contact your IT department if permissions are being blocked by policy.
